Student Ministry

Matthew 29: 19-20
"Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the father and the Son and the Holy spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you; and 10, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."

Matthew 22:37-40
And He said to him, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind."
"This is the great and foremost commandment."
The second is like it, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself." On these two commandments depend the whole law and the prophets.

Outreach:
C.O.R.N.
– Christian Outreaching Rural Nebraska:
The teen ministry of Monroe Evangelical Free church is seeking to do an outreach in every county in Nebraska. While this past year has seen three communities impacted by the youth and leaders serving in this capacity, this next year we hope to do ministry in nine other areas in Nebraska.

The philosophy of student ministry at Monroe Evangelical Free Church revolves around discipleship and evangelism. We believe that young people are capable of  being discipled. Our desire is to take students at whatever spiritual level they are, and bring them to maturity in Christ. This includes training and equipping  students to reach out in evangelism, being obedient to the Great Commission.
Meet Pastor Scott

Needs: Prayer for teams doing the outreach, and for lost souls. Teens and teen staff volunteers. Financial support for Bibles and equipment.

Senior Saints Visitation
12-15 of our youth visit the elderly in retirement homes and in their homes on a weekly basis.

Mission Trip to NYCMissions Trips:
This past year we had the incredible blessing of taking a group to New York City to do ministry. It was a wonderful experience which allowed us all to see God's great plan given to almost ten thousand people in three different communities, Bloomington, Indiana, Rochester, New York, and New York City.

The teens that went memorized numerous scriptures, as well as prepared their testimonies, and learned how to pray to lead others to Christ.

We believe it was a unique chance for the teens as well as their parents to see God do life changing ministry in the lives of the teens at Monroe Evangelical Free Church. It was a great faith builder for all involved.

Needs: Prayer for teens and teen staff traveling, as well as parents who have shown great faith in allowing their students to go on such a life changing trip. Finances to help those who can’t afford to go, yet have been faithful to teen ministry.

Baptism:
In support of the baptisms that our church holds twice a year, the teens are taught what God's Word says regarding baptism. It is an immediate act of obedience that God expects of His followers. It is in the Gospel outline that is available to them, and is preached about frequently. During the month prior to church baptisms it is brought up often, encouraging the teens to be obedient to God's word in this. They are asked to receive counseling from Pastor Mark who will speak to them regarding their decision for Christ and what Baptism signifies.

Acts 2:41
Those who accepted His message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.

Discipleship:
Sunday mornings:
On Sunday Mornings a large group of junior and senior high school teens come together at Monroe EFC, at 9:00 am. As you enter you will see folks from Aurora, Central City, Giltner, Hampton, Hordville, Phillips, Grand Island, Bradshaw, and Marquette, mingling together.

Scott's methods are to use humor and God's word to express God's great plan for teenagers. If you have never heard God's Word or if you have been a Christian for years, you will come away with renewed understanding and a desire for more. It is an awesome experience. This is also the time that Scott hands out Scotty's Notes, a devotional pamphlet including a place for sermon notes, daily devotions and prayers that he writes for the teens and others.

Needs: Prayer for teen ministry and that teens and staff will have ears to hear. Sometimes Scott will request videos to be produced to be used in sermons. Help make Scotty’s Notes copies.

Counseling:
Biblical counseling is available to teenagers as well as to parents regarding teen issues. It is decided by the pastors the best route for any adult counseling. All counseling is absolutely confidential. Carrielynn, trained in counseling as well, will be available for any counseling regarding teen girls, and at times, families.

2 Corinthians 1 :3-4
Blessed the God and father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort; who comforts us in our affliction so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.

Gospel Gangsters:
This is a group of teens that voluntarily are involved in giving out the gospel message. They are trained to memorize many verses pertaining to sin, God's love, faith, repentance, and prayer. They are taught how to give their testimony, and to pray with others thus bringing other individuals into a loving relationship with Christ Jesus.

Bible Reading In Aurora. Wednesday evenings:
Wednesday evenings are set aside for Bible reading and prayer, as well as fellowship.

We begin the evening by reading God's word, then we have some great snacks that the ladies in the church provide, and we end praying for one another. Prayer requests are shared on a volunteer basis, in a large room setting. It is a blessing to be a part of praying for one another. There are approximately 85-110 people every Wednesday.

The goals for this segment of the ministry are to read through the Bible. Scott also comments on passages as we read to give the teens a deeper understanding of God’s Word. Praying for one another as teens and adults share petitions and praises is also a vital part of the ministry. The snack time is an opportunity to get to know each other better, and to encourage one another.

This is held in our home (Peace’s) at 7:00 p.m. We love to have you here, anyone is always welcome.

Needs: Prayer for teens and staff, contributing snacks, (call Dawn Flores – 694-0435).

Bible Reading In Central City. Sunday evenings:
Sunday evening duplicates our Wednesday evening program. We are blessed to meet in the Meschke home in Central City. We are excited by the success we have seen on Sunday evenings. Many teens are coming from Central City, and teens from Aurora have been a great encouragement as well. A small group of our church members from Central City have been providing wonderful snacks.

Needs: Prayer for teens and staff, contributing snacks (call Dan Beck – 757-3300).

Our goal is that teens will experience how great God is, and that He has a Plan for them. Through these ministries we hope teens are encouraged to know Him better, and to love one another.

Bibles are necessary for growth in our Christian walk. We bring them to both Sunday Morning and Wednesday evening. If you need one please let Scott Know. If you are unfamiliar with reading the Bible, don't worry as we all begin somewhere. We hope to see you at our next event.
