Monroe
Women’s Ministries
The purpose of Monroe’s Women’s Ministry is to provide women
with opportunities to become passionate Christ followers in every area
of their lives.
Our women’s ministry is divided into 4 areas that seek to accomplish
our purpose
Learning & Growing
God’s Word is the core of our women’s ministry. We believe
that the understanding and application of God’s Word are essential
for us to become the women God wants us to be. Bible studies are available
year-round for all women.
This fall, our Bible Studies will be going through Elizabeth George’s
book, Loving God with All Your Mind. Bible Study times being offered are:
• Tuesdays at 7:00 p.m. at Carrielynn Peace’s home, 407 18th
St – Aurora
• Thursdays at 9:30 a.m. at Monroe Church – childcare provided
The Tuesday studies will begin September 6 and the Thursday study, September
8th.
Mentoring – We encourage mentoring relationships among our women
as mandated in Titus 2:3-5. Our contact person for Bible Studies and mentoring
is Carrielynn Peace (694-2031.)
Missions
We want to expand the way women look at the world by introducing them
to the world of missions. This gives us an opportunity to minister to
missionary women throughout the world by giving financially, communicating
with them and caring for their needs. We have a White Cross ministry which
involves making items that can be used by our missionaries in their ministries,
such as sewing and/or cutting items needed by hospitals in Africa (bandages,
baby blankets, etc.), making craft items for children’s ministry
“prizes”, or making quilts that are sent overseas, to name
a few. At times, we coordinate with the outreach committee at Monroe to
provide opportunities to reach out to our community with events such as
“Free Garage Sales”. Our contacts for missions and White Cross
are Eileen Forsman (694-3572) and Susan Soper (694-3515.)
Special Events
Several times a year, we plan special events for our women such as retreats
and a Christmas Tea. Many of these are designed to be outreaches, where
the gospel is shared and women are encouraged to invite others who need
to know Jesus. Our next special event is our Christmas Outreach planned
for Sunday evening, December 4th . We also offer opportunities for our
women to gather for fellowship with coffees in homes, ladies’ nights
out, etc. Contacts for special events are Stacie Gustafson (886-2979)
and Janine Murphy (694-6686.)
Community & Caring
Community & Caring includes:
• Helping Hands, which provides meals or whatever else may be needed
by a family who has experienced a hospitalization or illness or a new
baby.
• Cradle Roll welcomes new babies into our congregation.
• We have a Prayer Chain that is used to pass prayer requests on
to our church family.
• Our Care Team ministers to those who are new to our church, those
in the hospital, families who have lost a loved one and many other areas.
• Serving Committees - All women are invited to be a part of one
of our serving committees. This provides you with a great opportunity
to get to know other women in our church as you help provide and/or serve
food at various fellowship functions at Monroe.
If you or someone you know could be ministered to in any of these ways
please call Nancy Paschke (694-5448 or 854-2212.)
